The National Population Commission (NPC) on Wednesday affirmed its determination to partner with the National Bureau of Statistics (NBC) on provision of sustainable statistics for the country.

Alhaji Isa Kwarra, Executive Chairman of the commission, made the pledge while receiving the Statistician-General, Mr Simon Harry, in his office in Abuja.

Kwarra also expressed the willingness of the commission to work in synergy with the bureau in the pursuit of its mandate.

“We will not fail to work with you in providing data for the country.

“Any perceived gap between us was in the past and must be closed for harmonious and successful collaboration,” he said.

Earlier, the statistician-general stressed that the National Population Commission was imperative in the pursuit of the bureau’s mandate.

He, however, emphasised the need to partner with the commission for accurate data provision.

According to him, the NBS is a warehouse for statistics in Nigeria and therefore, needs to partner with the population commission for sustainable statistics development.

Harry who assured of the bureau’s continued partnership with the commission, said it was necessary to close the gap existing between them. (NAN)
