IGP, CDS BRAINSTORM OVER COUNTERING NIGERIA’S INSECURITY

The Chief of Defense Staff General Lucky Irabor has stressed the need for security agencies to gather support in dealing with the threat of insecurity across the nation.

He stated this at a courtesy visit paid to the Inspector General of Police at the Police Force Headquarters Abuja.

Irabor said the nation’s security has called for a collaborative approach to deal with the menace, hence all hands must be on deck to change the narrative so as to guarantee a crime-free society for peace and development.

“It’s no news that our country is challenged almost on our front, but more in particular within the security landscape, and the internal nature of these challenges demands that there must be a closing up of ranks among all agency, the armed forces, the police inclusive to be able to redress the current challenges that define across the country.

Threats all over the world remain very dynamic, and in our space Nigeria, there’s a transformation of these threats in various dimensions, so what’s required is for us to continuously review the mechanics of addressing them.”

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba also hinted that it is only an effective collaboration that can bring an end to the rising security challenge in the country.

He however commended the gesture and vowed to leverage the set goal to achieve the desired result in the country.

“Collaborate, synergies and cooperate with the police in securing this country, sir, we’re very happy to receive you and at the same time, we feel, we’ve partnered in progress in securing this nation.

The Nigerian army or the Nigerian military can come to the assistance of the civil authority or the civil police which I like to call the national police in terms of securing this country.

Sir, your coming is very important, we’ll listen to you, we’ll take all you’ve said and we’ll also give any other suggestion if we’ve to make this country a secured place for all abiding citizens to go about their lawful businesses.”

The meeting which had salient issues discussed by both security chiefs is aimed at bringing to an end all forms of criminalities, banditry, and illegal possessions of firearms and light weapons in the country.
