The Federal government of Nigeria has issued letters of commission to 62 ambassadors in recognition of their commitments toward placing the country in the global space.
Presenting the letters at the investiture ceremony in Nigeria’s capital, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama said these ambassadors had worked tirelessly to boost diplomatic relations in their respective country of assignment, adding that recognizing their contributions is key to achieving success.
President Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration has proven its commitment to rewarding those who have worked diligently in positioning the country in a positive light.
This gesture has brought to the gathering of these Nigeria’s ambassadors who have contributed immensely to building the nation’s diplomatic relations.
They’re the first to be honored by the government of Nigeria, having recognized their professional conduct in nation-building.
Commending their sacrifices and dedication to duties, Geoffrey noted that the essence is to rewrite the historic injustice that has been melted on them in the past years, thus assuring the ambassadors that their service will not be forgotten.
“I will like to congratulate you all, because I think it’s formally being a historical injustice that is rewriting, where people that have served diligently, so effectively for the country over many years.
It’s a real sacrifice, so huge sacrifice for the country, but also I think that the country knows each and every one of you, a real sense of gratitude, because, on the international stage, Nigeria is still reckoned with.
Nigeria is still able to get votes to deliver Nigerians into very important international positions.
Nigeria is able to maintain excellent relations with every country on earth, and this is done to you, this is your legacy that you’ve been able to keep that global respect for Nigeria.
What is meant is a lot of manpower, a lot of hard work in engaging with countries, engaging with international organizations, and making Nigeria, the Nigeria brand globally, very important in the sub-region, in west Africa Nigeria, is looked up to in Africa, UN and among seriously country around the world.”
Responding on behalf of the ambassadors, Adesola Adejumoke applauds the federal government for the recognition adding that it’s a call for more commitment, hence pledging for adequate representation across the globe
“We do not take it for granted, we appreciate and recognize it and a call to follow service.
We take that wholeheartedly and we’re committed to doing more work and bringing the necessary growth for our country.”
It was gathered that these ambassadors go from one posting to another just to make Nigeria a great nation at the expense of their children.
