Dur

ing his acceptance speech, the flag bearer Atiku Abubakar commends the credibility of the process, hoping that the general election will follow suit, thus calling for unity and avoiding discrimination in order to return the party to its original position in the government space.

“This convention is unique, is historic, it is unique because that is the last convention in the era of the APC.

It is historic because it’s going to give our great party the opportunity to take over government in this country and the state.

Therefore distinguish delegates, I want to appeal to you, for unity in this party, no matter the provocation, no matter the sabotage, no matter the discrimination that may be meted out to you all these are temporary, the most important thing for us is to the unit to make sure our party wins in the forthcoming elections.”

Also speaking representative of Anambra central senatorial district of Anambra state, senator Uche Ekunife urged Nigerians to look into the PDP antecedent, particularly in mentorship and gender representation, hence appealing for women to have a political will in order to make up the executive position in the country.

“My advice is for them to look at our antecedent, especially someone like that has served purposefully, I will continue to partner with them to ensure the dividends of democracy.

We’ve been doing a mentorship to women and all of that, and the most important thing is for women to have a will, if you don’t have a will no matter the push it will be difficult for that.

And also issue of funding, funding is a very critical part of election because you need to pay for logistics and all of that, so we need more women in executive positions to make up for the electoral positions.”

Earlier, other party members at the event expressed optimism that with the structure put in place the party stands the chance of taking over the government both at the national and state levels.

“The country have no option, APC has nothing to market himself, in which area, in which perspective can the APC say they’ve done well.

We’re optimistic that come 2023 PDP will rescue the country.” Said Charles Obule, Delta state PDP delegate.

“PDP has been setting a standard for our democratic process, we’re electing our flag bearer for the 2023 Presidential election, accreditation has been concluded, this is the first time in history, by this you cannot rig the election, so PDP is setting the standard for improving our internal democracy.

Southeast has been giving PDP all the maximum support and vote, but PDP has been taking it for granted, and in this last stage southeast wants to make a statement that we are not slaves to anybody.

Our constitution makes it clear that we’re zoning, it is written clearly in our constitution in black and white and there’s no way a party will be coaliting if no constitution, it’s a strong statement and I know it will affect the party if something quick is not done.” Said Hon. Tim Ebuka, Agwuata PDP national delegate.

A total of 774 delegates from the 36 states and the FCT of the people’s democratic party voted for the presidential primaries.
