The All Progressive Congress Presidential aspirant Ahmad Lawan who also doubles as the President of the 9th Senate has vowed to ensure dividends of democracy if elected as president of the federal republic of Nigeria.
He made the disclosure shortly after the APC presidential screening in Abuja.
Ahmad said its administration will ensure constitutional amendment so as to revitalize the nation’s economy to boost the livelihood of average citizens.
According to him, building integrity is critical for an effective administration, hence the need for constant passing of bills at the national assembly to promote citizens’ confidence in the government.
“My vision for Nigeria as the president, from 2023 May 29.
It was a pleasant experience for me because I was looking forward to that engagement, to express myself very well for my party, through the screening committee on why am running to be the president of our great nation from 2023.
Fundamentally, what are those issues that the party stands for? The APC our party stands for a constitutional amendment, to make government fare better, to take government closer to the people, devolution of powers, to ensure that Nigerians get the best deal in terms of governance, ensure that more resources are devolved from the federal government to the state and local government, make it commensurate with devolution of power.
We also believe that we must make the election in Nigeria a very peaceful, transparent electoral environment that our election must be full of integrity and that is why in the national assembly we pass the bill to amend the electoral act 2010 just to ensure that we improve in the electoral processes of procedures in Nigeria for a better outcome.
As a political party, we also believe that the economy of Nigeria must continue to work for all Nigerians. And that is to say, having achieved the largest economy in Africa, we still have to make it that economy that serves each and everyone so that nobody is left behind.”
The APC aspirant further expressed optimism that his years of service at the national assembly qualify him as the best presidential candidate of the party, thus vowing to secure a better environment for the people come 2023.
“We’re going to continue to also have as a party, as an administration to achieve a securer environment for our people, I believe that I have all it takes to be a president of the federal republic of Nigeria, having served for 23 years.
I know all past successes I’ve achieved and I know well we’ve achieved fewer successes and how we can ensure that we’ll do better confronting other security challenges in the northwest and other parts of the country.”
