ECOWAS COMMISSION CONDEMNS IN STRONG TERMS TERRORIST ATTACK IN KATI MILITARY BASE, REITERATES COMMITMENT TO RESTORE CONSTITUTIONAL ORDER IN MALI

The  Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS Commission) in its strongest terms condemned the vehicle-borne explosive devices carried out by terrorists in the early hours of July 22, 2022, at the Kati military base near Bamako, capital of the Republic of Mali.

The terrorist attack which resulted in several casualties was swiftly brought under control by the  Malian soldiers.

A statement signed by the head of the commission’s communications Salett Nogueira July 23, 2022, noted that “the Commission commends the bravery and vigilance of the Malian soldiers in halting this heinous attack and swiftly bringing the situation under control. It expresses deep sympathy to the families of victims of the terror attack and commiserates with the people and Government of Mali.”

The Commission however reiterates its determination to accompany the people of the Republic of Mali towards a successful transition and stability in the country.
