PARLIAMENT FAULT USD TO HIGH COST OF COMMODITY, HARPS ON IMPLEMENTING ECOWAS SINGLE CURRENCY

Inter-regional trade accounts for only ten percent of the import and export of commodities across member states.

This is practically resulting in the value and attention citizens pay to obtain the United States Dollars, thus heightening the cost of living in the region.

In a conference organized in Guinea Bissau, by the Economic Community of West African States Parliamentarians to address this ugly trend of inflation in the region, Speaker of the Parliament Dr. Sidie Mohamed Tunis said despite the political will member states have put up, there is huge influence outside the region who are bent on hindering the implementation of the ECOWAS single currency, hence they must act appropriately for its actualization.
