DSS INTERCEPTS SYNDICATES SELLING NEW CURRENCY NOTES; BANK OFFICIALS IMPLICATED

The Department of State Services (DSS) has intercepted sellers of the new currency note, as bank officials are being implicated.

A statement by the office’s Public Relations Officer Peter Afunanya Ph.D. today 30th January 2023 said in the course of its operations, the office has discovered how some Commercial Bank officials are aiding the economic malfeasance, hence urging the public who are involved in this organized syndicates of the sale of the newly redesigned naira notes to desist or face the dare consequence.

“Consequently, the Service warns the currency racketeers to desist from this ignoble act. Appropriate regulatory authorities are, in this same vein, urged to step up monitoring and supervisory activities to expeditiously address emerging trends.

“It should be noted that the Service has ordered its Commands and Formations to further ensure that all persons and groups engaged in the illegal sale of the notes are identified.” The service, therefore, urged anyone with useful information relating to the sale of new Naira notes to relate to the relevant authorities for decisive actions.
