EID AL-FITR: DSS ARRESTS GUNMEN IN KANO, CHARGES CITIZENS TO BE VIGILANCE

As part of an effort to guarantee a hitch-free celebration, two gunmen have been arrested in Kano by the operative of the State Security Service.

This is part of the service commitment to ensure the safety of road users during and after the Eid al-Fitr celebrations in the country.

A statement by the Department of State Service Public Relations Officer Peter Afunanya (Ph’d) on 20th April 2023 said it will continuously work with sister agencies and other stakeholders to boost security across the country.

Thus enjoining the citizens to be extra vigilant and report any unusual or suspicious movements, persons, or acts to the security agencies nearest to them.

“The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby informs the public that it has today, 20th April 2023. Items seized from the duo are:

  1. Two (2) AK-47 assault rifles;
  2. Two (2) Empty AK47 Magazines;

iii. A red boxer motorcycle;

  1. A sack of yams in which the guns were concealed.

“The suspects were in transit to deliver the arms for a planned attack in one of the States in Northern Nigeria. This development underscores the need for citizens to be extra vigilant and report any unusual or suspicious movements, persons, or acts to the security agencies nearest to them.

“Operators and patrons of fun, hospitality, and tourism centers are enjoined to be cautious during the festive periods. They should scale up measures to ensure the safety of their facilities.” the Service, therefore, wishes all Muslim faithful, a peaceful and joyous celebration.
