AS NEW EXECUTIVES ARE SWORN IN FOR TWO YEARS TENURE
The Speaker of the Economic Community of West Africa States Parliamentarians Sidie Tunis has expressed his unalloyed support to building the capacity of journalists under the auspices of the Association of West African Legislative Correspondents (AWALCO) to enable them to work effectively for the regional bloc.
He gave assurances of solidarity while inaugurating AWALCO’s new executives in Abuja.
Tunis who was represented by the Secretary General of the ECOWAS Parliament John Azumah said the media are the key pillars of democracy and good governance, noting that their sacrifices to informing the people of the sub-region have built the parliament’s relentless discharge of its constitutional mandate.
He further expressed optimism that meeting their critical needs through training and retraining of journalists covering the parliament is paramount and beneficial to the community at large.
