The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Bola Tinubu has suspended with immediate effect AbdulRasheed Bawa, Chairman, of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The indefinite suspension was issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation through its Director of Information Willie Bassey in a statement on 14th June 2023.

It said Bawa is to hand over the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office.

“This follows weighty allegations of abuse of office leveled against him.

“Mr. Bawa has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Director, of Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation.” This is the second suspension of President Bola Tinubu since his assumption of office on May 29th, 2023.
