The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that despite the structural, and infrastructural challenges the 2023 general election has changed the narrative of single-party dominance in the nation’s politics.
This expression was made by the INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu at the commencement of post-election review engagements with Resident Electoral Commissioners in the INEC headquarters in Abuja.
He said since 1999 such diverse outcomes have never been recorded as many prominent candidates and political parties lost the constituencies they contested in some of their presumed strongholds.
Noting that this attestation is the product of the success of BVAS accreditation which stands at 98% compared to the Smart Card Reader’s 29.2% during the 2019 General Election.
