NIGER COUP: WHY WE VISITED SHEIKH LAU AMID JUNTA – ECOWAS PARLIAMENT’S AD HOC COMMITTEE

The ECOWAS Parliament Ad-hoc mediation committee has said that they are doing everything possible to resolve the coup in Niger Republic.

Part of this commitment is the visit of a prominent Nigerian Islamic scholar, Abdullahi Bala Lau, popularly known as Sheikh Balalau in Abuja.

The meeting which was held behind closed doors, lasted for an hour to build a wider stakeholder consultation on how best to tackle the Nigerien situation.

The Islamic scholar Sheikh also doubles as the National Chairman of the Jama’atu Izalatul Bidi’ah wa Ikamatus Sunnah, the largest Salafi movement in Nigeria, since December 2011.
