9 OUT OF 97 MEMBERS OF THE PARLIAMENT SEEK SANCTION REMOVAL ON NIGER CITIZENS

URGES ECOWAS HEADS OF STATE, INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITIES TO LIFT ECONOMIC BANS

Nine out of 97 members of the ECOWAS Parliamentarians are appealing to the Authority of Heads of State and government as well as the International community to lift the sanctions currently imposed on the Nigerien Republic to lessen the untold hardship melted on the citizens.

The members who aligned themselves with three members of the ad hoc committee on peace resolution, made the call at a press briefing at the sidelines of the ongoing second Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Parliament in Abuja.

The appeal is before the untold hardship by the citizens of Niger, owing to the sanctions imposed on the country after a military coup that ousted President Mohamed Bazoum.

Although, Niger is not the first to experience a military coup as Mali, Burkina Faso, and Guinea are still undergoing sanctions in their various capacities.
