WHO CALLS FOR IMPROVE FUNDING TO MEET HEALTHCARE NEEDS OF THE POOR

STAGES 2.8 KM WALK AS INTEGRAL PART OF GUARANTEEING UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE

The World Health Organization’s Director General Tedros Ghebreyesus has called on the government of Nigeria to take appropriate steps to revitalize the health sector to meet the needs of vulnerable citizens to guarantee a healthier society.

He made the call in a message to commemorate the 2023 World Universal Health Coverage Day, themed ‘Health for All: Time for Action’.

Dr. Tedros while acknowledging the federal government’s commitment to tackling various outbreaks, said that the growing population of 2.5 percent which is expected to double by 2050 requires proactive steps to ensure the sustainability of measures already taken to tackle sickness and diseases, and harped on good political enablement to meet the 2030 target of UHC in the country.
