In recognition of excellent leadership and dedication to good governance and accountability, the Association of West African Legislative Correspondents (AWALCO) has issued awards to the speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament and three members of parliamentarians.
Giving the award at the sidelines of the second ordinary session of the ECOWAS Parliament the President of AWALCO Innocent Odoh said their critical role in enhancing the standard of living of the people in the sub-region cannot be overemphasized and pledges the association’s commitment to supporting the ECOWAS Parliament in fulfilling its mandate.
According to him, building regional collaboration across stakeholders is paramount for raising awareness towards achieving economic integration.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award, the
Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament Sidie Tunis expressed gratitude to the association adding that as part of an effort to deepen commitment, three regional journalists would be captured for each session for increased awareness.
Other members of the parliament who were awarded are Hon. Awaji Abiante: A member of the ECOWAS Parliament from Nigeria, Hon. Vilane Abdoulaye from Senegal, and Hon. Fatoumatta Njai from the Gambia.
