SAYS IT HAS YIELD INVESTMENT IN CRITICAL SECTORS

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has said that President Bola Tinubu’s international trip has yielded positive results in various sectors of the economy, especially in the area of investment.
He disclosed this during a World Press Conference on Thursday 21st December 2023, in Abuja.
The Minister while expressing the enthusiastic nature of President Tinubu’s administration noted that building stronger relations across the globe is crucial to achieving economic integration.
According to the minister, the country has been able to secure one of Japan’s largest pharmaceutical companies constructing a multi-million-dollar manufacturing plant in Ogun State, which is considered the first in Africa.
We have seen over $15 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) pledges in various sectors such as energy, steel, defense, and the automotivE, he added.
Also speaking, Idris noted that the bold and strategic move by the president to reposition the country’s economy for rapid growth and development has further highlighted the President’s unwavering commitment to making difficult decisions in the interest of the good of Nigerians.
He added that the emergency declaration on food security reflects the government’s commitment to tackling food scarcity, which is a threat to citizen’s well-being.
“It aligns with our vision for a Nigeria that thrives on efficiency, transparency, and responsible governance. Fuel subsidy removal is a crucial step towards a more sustainable economic future, and we are working tirelessly to ensure that all citizens feel the benefits of this decision.
On the security situation, Mohammed said since President Tinubu’s assumption of office, the top of the present administration’s priority has been the fight against insecurity, adding that efforts are already being implemented to address the root causes and ensure a safer, more secure Nigeria.
The President understands the multifaceted nature of the challenges, and his commitment extends beyond military interventions. It encompasses even a non-kinetic approach. The goal is to quell immediate threats and create an environment where citizens can live without fear and insecurity
The minister also hinted that the federal government in its effort to cushion the effect of the high cost of transportation fares has lifted five million (5,000,000) commuters during this yuletide season with a 50% transportation rebate.
Streaming that the participating road transport companies for the 50% rebate are GIG (God is Good), Chisco Transport, Young Shall Grow, God Bless Ezenwata, and Area Motor aimed at easing the economic meltdown.
According to the minister, part of this measure is the free train services for all Nigerians traveling from Thursday, December 21, 2023, to Thursday, January 4, 2024.
I have already assembled a Committee of renowned experts to work on and finalize a Values Charter for Nigeria, in line with President Tinubu’s desire for true and sustained reorientation of national values and attitudes. The new Charter will be unveiled by the President early next year.
The Minister is optimistic 2024, will bring renewed hope for all Nigerians.
