POPE FRANCIS URGES CHRISTIANS TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS WITH SIMPLICITY, LOVE, GRATITUDE

AS NCPC, STATES PILGRIMAGE LEADERS RECEIVE PRAYERS OF RECOGNITION IN PAPAL AUDIENCE, VATICAN CITY

Pope Francis has urged Nigerians to celebrate Christmas with the heart of gratitude to God, simplicity, and love for one another.

He made the call On Wednesday, 20th December, 2023 when he received the delegation of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, (NCPC) and the states Pilgrimage Leaders at the sidelines of the Pre- Visit tour to Rome and Greece ahead of the 2023 Main Pilgrimage exercise slated for early 2024.

Pope Francis in his message specially recognized the Nigerian pilgrims at St Paul’s sixth hall, Papal audience, in Vatican City in Rome and prayed to God to grant them the intentions of their hearts.

A statement Signed by the Deputy Director and Head Media and Public Relations of the NCPC Celestine Toruka on 20th December, 2023 said every Nigerian Pilgrim in Rome looks forward to attending the Papal audience just like every other Pilgrim from different countries.

According to him,

The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission has always ensured that Nigerian pilgrims are given the privilege of having an audience with the Pope during the Pilgrimage.

The team was led to the Papal audience by the Executive Secretary of NCPC, Rev Dr Yakubu Pam

The Nigerian delegation joined thousands of Christians from all walks of life to observe the Wednesday Papal audience which the Commission considers as a critical and integral aspect of its pilgrimage content in Rome and the Vatican.
