SAYS FID-IRT, FID-STS OPERATIONS IN THE COUNTRY ARE COMMENDABLE

The Nigeria Police Force has recounted the major operations of the Force Intelligence Department Tactical Teams – FID-IRT and FID-STS that led to the arrest of dangerous criminals of various heinous crimes and recoveries of illicit arms and ammunition as well as other items across the country.

Commending their operations at a briefing on the major achievement of the Nigeria Police Force for the year 2023, today Tuesday 9th January 2024, in the nation’s capital, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said a total of 67 suspects were arrested by the gallant operatives of FID-IRT and FID-STS, as some are already facing prosecution for the various cases for which they have been indicted, according to him,

 5,454 rounds of different caliber of live ammunition, 300 live cartridges, a total number of 68 rifles, 19 different brands of vehicle, 4 motorcycles, 23 daggers/swords, 50 empty shells of ammunition, 8 different make of handsets, 1 POS machine and 33 different ATM cards were recovered and marked as exhibits for the prosecution of the various cases

Olumuyiwa also said their efforts towards the apprehension of these heinous criminals are paying off, stressing that part of this measure is the recent attack on some villages in Plateau State.

Recalling the incident, Muyiwa noted that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun Ph.D. while on-the-spot assessment of the affected areas, also placed tactical strategies to bring the perpetrators of the attack to book.

These strategies are already yielding results, as three (3) suspects who are members of a gunrunning syndicate linked to the attacks have been apprehended and are currently in police custody assisting with the investigation. The suspects are (1) Ahmed Suleiman (2) Balikisu Aliyu and (3) Aboki Samuel. Upon their arrest, the following exhibits were recovered; (a) 1 ash-colored golf car (b) 1 AK-47 rifle (c) 1 AK-49 rifle (d) 1000 rounds of live ammunition, and (e) 5 magazines. We are closing in on others involved in the attacks and we will update you as events unfold

Speaking on the deadly bank robbery incident, which claimed the lives of seven Policemen, including a Divisional Police Officer and several civilians in Otukpo, Benue State, as well as the loss of innocent Nigerians and millions of naira across the Access Bank, First Bank, UBA, Zenith, and Stanbic IBTC respectively, the force PRO said the swift response ordered by the IGP led to the arrest of four suspects while five fell to their superior firepower during a fierce gun duel at their hideout in Taraku Village in Buruku LGA of Benue State by the IRT operatives.

The suspected armed robbers have confessed to the crime and linked other gang members at large. They also narrated and revealed how they got their arms on loan for every operation from one Terzungwe Shionda a.k.a “3-star general” (now late) and also some from Terlumum Pila and Ayuko both at large.

Giving an update on the commuter attack, Olumuyiwa said,

On 13th December 2023 at about 1705hrs, three Fulanis on transit from Keffi, Nassarawa State to Niger/Kwara were reportedly attacked and killed by unknown persons in Gaube area of Kuje area council FCTAbuja. STS operatives swiftly swung into action and arrested nine suspects, out of which, six were identified as members of the hunters and forest guard in Kuje. The suspects confessed to the commission of the crime, to have also abandoned their bodies at Kabi forest and made away with their Bajaj motorcycle to an unknown location at Takuba village in Kuje. The corpses were photographed, recovered, examined, and confirmed dead by a medical practitioner. They were identified by the relations and released to them for burial. The deceased Bajaj motorcycle was also recovered from the outfit. The investigation is still ongoing.

He added that the IRT operatives, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a syndicate of car robbers and recovered four (4) vehicles from them.

one Toyota Camry (grey color), Toyota Camry (blue color), Lexus ES 350 car (grey color) and Lexus ES 330 (black color) believed to have been dispossessed from their rightful owners at gunpoint around Ikorodu area of Lagos State. Two (2) AK 47 rifles with one magazine and seven (7) rounds of live ammunition were also recovered from the syndicate. An intensive operation is ongoing to enable further arrest of the fleeing gang members and further possible recoveries.

SUSPECT: MR TOMIWA MUSTAPHA, MR BIDEMI EMMANUEL OGUNKOYA, MR ADEBAYO ADEWALE

On the issue of banditry, kidnapping, and armed robbery, Oluwuyiwa revealed that the IRT operatives credibly acted on intelligence in Tomasari Village, Alkaleri LGA of Bauchi State, where they encountered some bandits/kidnappers and successfully neutralized and arrested two suspects.

Three AK-49 rifles with an empty magazine were recovered from the suspects who mentioned one Yaya to be a member of their gang. Efforts are ongoing for his apprehension.

SUSPECTS: YAKUBU IBRAHIM “M”, AUTA IBRAHIM “M”

On kidnapper/cattle rustlers/ rescue of hostages, he said in a coordinated sting operation arrests were also recorded with exhibits.

A total number of two hundred and three (203) rustled cows were also recovered from them at a criminal hideout in Danmarki Village of Kafur LGA, Kastina State, and rescued a kidnapped victim, Saleh Bala who had been in their custody for four (4) months. The suspects confessed to the crime and monitoring continues.

SUSPECTS: SULEIMAN DOGO, USMAN SULIEMAN, MAKA NIGGER, YAHAYA SULIEMAN, SAIDU ILIYA

However, the PRO also said,

The Police operatives on surveillance trailed and arrested Patrick Enenche 35yrs, Samuel Francis 29yrs, Kingsley Ekere 32yrs, Audu Sabo 21yrs, Ekpo Odey 25yrs, Paul Cletus 33yrs, and Cornelius Kamine 32yrs “M” of Karimo FCT Abuja and the following exhibits were recovered from them: thirty-three (33) victim ATM cards of different banks, eight handsets of different makes and one First Monie POS. One of the victims identified the gang leader, Patrick Enenche who picked her up at Galadimawa junction on 27/11/2023 at about 2100hrs where she was robbed of a Techno phone, ATM card, and the sum of one million five hundred thousand naira (N1,500,000) which the hoodlums demanded from her relations before she was pushed down from their moving car at about 0030hrs. The investigation is still ongoing

On banditry, kidnapping, and recovery of arms and ammunition, the Force Public Relations Officer said,

The ST’s operatives acted on credible information about the movement of arms and ammunition from Kontogora through Sarkin Pawa Forest with a mission to deliver same at Tsafe/Shinkafi LGA of Zamfara state and blocked the entrance of Mada/Kucheri village routes. Two hoodlums were sighted on a motorcycle with a “Ghana must go bag” who diverted into a bush on seeing the operatives. They were given a hot chase where the bag fell off and the hoodlums escaped to an unknown destination. A search was conducted and exhibits were revealed as the contents of the bag.

Also speaking, said Sequel to credible intelligence,

one Musa Suleiman, a robbery and kidnap kingpin was arrested for having one AK 49 rifle and ammunition, an instrument he uses for robbery and kidnapping activities around Nasarawa State and its environs. He indicted Ibrahim Mohammadu who also confessed that one Shagari, a cohort who is at large has one AK 47 rifle they use in terrorizing Nasarawa State. Efforts are in place through technical intelligence to arrest the said Shagari and recover the firearm. Also arrested is Nanzing Nanlir, another notorious kidnapper/bandit on the Plateau.

Adding that,

On 10 December, 20223 at about 2140hrs, Police operatives on investigation activities to Gombe State on a case of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, and illegal possession of prohibited firearms trailed and arrested one Ibrahim Mohammed ‘m’ 55yrs of Sokoto State, Ikilima Mohammed ‘f 22yrs, Idi Salisu 27yrs ‘m’ of Adamawa state and Nasiru Mohammed ‘m’ in possession of one Toyota Corolla suspected to have been dispossessed from the rightful owner. Suspects confessed to the commission of the crime, belonging to a syndicate of robbery, and are giving further useful information. The investigation is ongoing.

He also highlighted the case of viral videos circulating on social media of a criminal syndicate in Kano State that specializes in stealing parked motorcycles, adding that,

Surveillance operatives deployed to Kano trailed and arrested one Nora Haruna Danladi ‘m’ of Gwamaja, Dala LG of Kano state, and Bashir Mathew ‘m’. The suspects confessed to the commission of the crime and to having stolen an uncountable number of motorcycles and sold the same to their criminal receivers. Investigation is ongoing for more recoveries

Meanwhile,

On 25th November 2023 at about 0230hrs, police operatives on surveillance trailed and arrested one notorious bandit, Idris Shuaib ‘m’ aged 35yrs terrorizing Kano and Katsina States respectively. His arrest led to the arrest of one Abubakar Adamu ‘m’ aged 45yrs of Karim Lamindao LGA of Taraba state in Bauchi. The investigation is ongoing.

The Force PRO ACP Olumuyiwa maintained that the operatives under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police will continue to work tirelessly, and relentlessly to ensure a safer Nigeria as exemplified by the unflinching dedication and commitment by all command and formation in the country.
