CHARGES HIM TO ADHERE TO OATH OF OFFICE

An indigene of Akwa Ibom State Etekamba Umoren has been sworn in by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the new Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Delta State.

The swearing which aligned with the commission’s regular weekly meeting was held on Tuesday 30th January 2024 at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.

A statement by Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman of, InformatThe chairman and Voter Education Committee revealed that

the Chairman of the Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, urged the new REC to adhere strictly to his oath of office which requires neutrality and impartiality in the discharge of his duties. He also enjoined the new REC to abide by the Commission’s Code of Conduct and sustain regular consultations with stakeholders.

Etekamba Umoren is a Bachelor’s degree holder in Geography from the University of Behasnin who has served in various capacities in the Akwa Ibom State civil service, rising to the position of Permanent Secretary.
