The Inspector General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun, Ph.D. has unveiled the Logo and Mascot for the 14th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA) scheduled to be held in Ibadan, Oyo State, from 24th February to 2nd March and tagged OLUYOLE 2024.
The IGP while unveiling the logo at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, on 2nd February 2024 said it’s a sporting event that stands as an architect of unity and discovery of talents in the Nigeria Police Force.
The Nigeria Police Force, with its rich legacy of fostering athletic excellence, embarks on this edition with a renewed pledge to surpass previous milestones and celebrate new victories. These Games symbolize our commitment to excellence, unity, and the nurturing of new talents who will carry our nation’s flag high on global stages.
We gather not only to compete but to forge bonds, showcase resilience, and spotlight emerging talents who will be the future champions of our nation. This is more than a competition; it is a celebration of what we can achieve when we come together, transcending our differences in the spirit of sportsmanship.
Prof. Olukayode While commiserating with the people of Oyo State over the unfortunate incident of the explosion at Bodija, Ibadan, on January 16, 2024, that claimed precious lives, caused injuries to many, and destroyed properties, said this year’s Games, will be held in the heart of Oyo State, to reflect the collective commitment to a safer, more prosperous Nigeria. Thus remaindering all of a shared responsibility towards creating a harmonious society, where every individual feels protected and valued.
The partnership with Oyo State, under His Excellency, Governor Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde’s leadership, exemplifies the synergy between governance and sports, highlighting the role of collaborative efforts in achieving societal progress.
Our theme, “Competing for Peace, Unity, Stability, and Progress of Nigeria,” captures our aspirations. It calls upon us to remember that through dedication and teamwork, the vision of a unified and progressive Nigeria is within our grasp.
I must highly appreciate and commend, the Government and good people of the host State, for their total support including huge human, material, and financial INVESTMENTS towards the success of THESE Games.
The Force has taken necessary steps towards unearthing the characters responsible for the occurrence while adequate measures are being put in place to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
The IGP therefore urged the citizens to embrace the event as a catalyst for unity, showcasing the nation’s cultural richness, hospitality, and the spirit of competition to the world.
