The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar has charged relevant authorities to bring the Okuama perpetrators of 18 Soldiers to book to serve as a deterrent to others, describing it as a national tragedy.
The troops of the 181 Amphibious Battalion of the Nigerian Army were on a peaceful and mediatory mission after a reported communal clash between the Okuama and Okoloba Communities in Ughelli South and Bomadi LGAs of Delta State.
He made the call in a statement signed by Alkasim Abdulkadir, SA Media and Communications Strategy to the Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs said the minister during a visit by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, who led a delegation of top military brass to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Friday 22nd March 2024 in Abuja.
According to him, the minister while condoling with President Bola Tinubu who is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, the Defence Headquarters and the dependents of the deceased soldiers noted that the killing of military personnel in Okuama Community in Delta State on the 16th of March 2024 is a tragic act to justice.
He prayed for the repose of their souls and asked the Almighty Lord to grant their families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. He ended the condolence message by imploring the relevant authorities to bring the perpetrators of the tragic act to justice.
