NIGERIAN POLITICIANS PAY SOLIDARITY VISIT TO RUSSIA EMBASSY OVER MOSCOW ATTACK

PROMISES TO STAND WITH RUSSIA IN THEIR TRYING TIMES

Nigerian politicians have expressed their unwavering commitment to stand with the Russian government following the attack by four gunmen at crocus city hall in Moscow that led to the killing of over 137 people.

In a solidarity message in Abuja, the Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode who led the delegation and other former top government officials, such as the former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Pantami said,

We have suffered from similar issues in the recent past. We join faith with you and also reach out to you with our hearts to commensurate with you and express our sympathy on behalf of millions of Nigerians.

We acknowledged the critical role that you have played in the development of our country…and we want you to be rest assured that in this difficult time and indeed, over the months and years, Russia is not alone and has not been alone. You have many, many friends here in Nigeria

Meanwhile, Isa Pantami in a deep reflection extended his heartfelt condolences and the delegation to the Russian President Vladimir Putin and its citizens over the tragedy.

We stand by you, we stand by humanity, we always stand for peace, we stand for justice and we do hope that this is the last calamity that will happen in the country and we will continue to pray for your country, for our country and also for peace, stability and prosperity all over the world, Pantami said.

They further urged the Russian government to identify those behind the attack to ensure that justice prevail. 

Responding, Russian ambassador to Nigeria, Alexey Shebarshin, while thanking the delegation noted that four of the suspects had been arrested near the Ukrainian border.

And stresses that every information regarding the incident would be made public upon conclusion of investigation and even as he called for combined efforts to defeat terrorists.

Other dignitaries at the event were a former Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Senator Basheer Lado Mohammed; Senator Mohammed Hassan who represented Yobe South Senatorial District; a former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon Farouk Aliyu, and the the 2023 Campaign spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu in the Eastern part of the country, Joseph Onoh respectively.
