The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has said his modus operation is not just to embark on a Pilgrimage but to explore Israel’s agricultural technology for economic growth.
He stated this while receiving members of the House Committee on Christian Pilgrimage Affairs on May 28, 2024, in Abuja.
Adegbite emphasizes that the aim of changing the Pilgrimage narrative is to enable pilgrims to acquire different skills that will better their lives upon return.

Bishop Adegbite praised his predecessors, particularly Prof. John Kennedy Opara, for their legacies and contributions to the Commission’s growth. He highlighted the Commission’s pre-visit and state-of-readiness visits to the Holy Land, ensuring a smooth pilgrimage process. The Commission has also produced a calendar of events outlining the pilgrimage programmes with the Easter pilgrimage running from April to July and the main pilgrimage from November to February.
In addition to pilgrimage, Bishop Adegbite emphasized his role as an Ambassador of Peace, promoting interfaith harmony as directed by President Tinubu.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the House Committee on Christian Pilgrimage, Hon. Festus Ayodele, acknowledging the excellent work of the commission, called for synergy between the Committee and NCPC for effective performance.
