The Nigeria Police Force says it has rescued the recently kidnapped 20 medical students and several other Nigerians held captive in the dense Ntunkon forest of Benue State.
A statement by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, on 24th August 2024 revealed that the kidnapped victims were released on 23rd August 2024, contrary to the rumors being circulated that ransoms were paid.
No ransom was paid for their release.
The rescue mission was executed with precision and professionalism, defying the widespread belief that a monetary exchange facilitated their freedom.
“Not a single kobo was paid,” a source close to the situation confirmed, dismissing social media speculation.
The successful operation was the result of coordinated efforts between local security agencies, residents, and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
Their unwavering dedication and tactical expertise ensured the safe return of those captured.
This release marks a giant stride for the nation’s security agencies and locals for their bravery and resilience, as families and communities experience immense relief.
The Force promises more details about the daring rescue soon.
