The Nigerian Army, working alongside other security forces in a series of coordinated operations, crushed terrorist networks across multiple states.

These operations followed intense firefights and precision strikes, resulting in the elimination of several terrorists, the arrest of a notorious arms courier, and the rescue of numerous kidnap victims.

The military stated in a statement 4th September 2024 that,

On September 3, 2024, the troops launched a raid deep in the Mandara Mountains, a known terrorist haven in Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State.

After a fierce exchange of gunfire, the terrorists were forced to flee, leaving behind 24 hostages.

The swift action of the troops led to their rescue.

In addition, the military recovered a cache of weapons, including 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, a loaded AK-47 rifle magazine, a Dane gun, and other critical supplies left behind in the terrorist stronghold.

It also revealed that,

in Kaduna State, troops stormed a notorious kidnappers’ den in Kabode village, Kachia Local Government Area. One criminal was neutralized, while others fled in disarray.

Four captives were rescued, and troops seized an AK-47 rifle, 10 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, six motorcycles, and three mobile phones, effectively crippling the criminal network operating in the region.

In a separate high-stakes operation, military forces, in collaboration with security agencies, struck deep into the Keyeri Hills and Gidan Dogo forest in Kagarko Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

During the raid, a terrorist arms courier was apprehended while transporting weapons to insurgents.

This critical arrest led to the recovery of a massive cache of firepower, including three AK-47 rifles, a Galil rifle, over 1,600 rounds of NATO ammunition, and other high-calibre weaponry.

Intelligence gathered from this operation led to the capture of eight additional suspects linked to the insurgents.

The troops’ success extended beyond counterterrorism, as they also cracked down on criminal elements in Plateau State.

In Riyom Local Government Area, troops raided a criminal hideout, arresting two suspects and seizing mobile phones and a knife.

In Barikin Ladi Local Government Area, acting on credible intelligence, the troops recovered 64 rustled cattle believed to have been stolen during the Mangu crisis earlier this year.

Commending the troops  Army Chief of Staff urged for their relentless efforts and seamless coordination with security agencies and local communities to eradicate terrorism, emphasizing the military’s unwavering commitment to restore peace across Nigeria.
