U.S. AMBASSADOR APPLAUDS EDO ELECTION VICTORY, CALLS FOR CONTINUED CALM

The U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, has commended the people of Edo State for the peaceful conduct of the governorship election held on September 21. 

 

A statement signed by the U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria on 24th September 2024 applauded the Nation, particularly the Edo citizens toward the successful conclusion of the election, 

 

And urges all political parties and their supporters to remain calm even as the election result is announced to instill democracy in the country.

 

Mills, while recognizing Governor Godwin Obaseki’s call for peace, urged all to honor the legal frameworks in place for contesting election results. 

Transparency and due process are key to sustaining public confidence in any democratic system.

The United States also expressed the mission’s unalloyed support to promote free, fair, and credible elections in Nigeria.
