IGP APPROVES N10 MILLION FOR KANO ACCIDENT VICTIMS, PLEDGES OFFICERS’ WELFARE SUPPORT

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. Kayode Egbetokun,  has approved a sum of Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000)  to the families of fallen heroes following the tragic fatal motor accident that took their lives on September 24, 2024.

 

The IGP, while commiserating with the families of police officers involved in the ghastly motor accident, also approves the immediate compensatory payments and vows to support the families.

 

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, on October 9, 2024, revealed that the accident had claimed the lives of five officers and left 11 others injured, out of which eight have been discharged after receiving medical care, while three officers are currently undergoing treatment.

 

According to him, the officers were on their way back from a special duty assignment in the just concluded Edo State governorship Elections before the unfortunate incident along the Zaria-Kano Expressway in Karfi Kura.

The loss of these brave officers is a tragedy that weighs heavily on the entire Nigeria Police Force. We stand with their families in this moment of grief and will do everything in our power to provide them with the support they need during this painful time.

A sum of Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000) will be paid to the families of our fallen heroes. 

We hope this support helps ease some of their burden, although no amount can truly compensate for the loss of their loved ones. Said IGP Egbetokun.

Muyiwa noted that the IGP has further approved an additional Two Million Naira (N2,000,000) for officers still receiving medical care and Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000) for those who have been discharged.

Reaffirming the IGPs dedication to the welfare of police personnel, in times of hardship.

We will always prioritize the well-being of our men and women in uniform and their families. They are the backbone of our security efforts, and we must ensure they are cared for, especially in trying times like these. Egbetokun added.

Revealing that the IG in his deepest condolences to the bereaved families, also prayed for the speedy recovery of those still under medical care.
