ONDO ELECTION: INEC HAILS VOTER READINESS AS 62.2% COLLECT PVCS

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says a total of 55,859 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected out of the 89,777 available cards in just five days across Ondo state.

A statement released on October 22, 2024, by the commission’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, described it as an impressive figure, accounting for 62.2%, marking it the highest collection rate since the introduction of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in 2015.

Sam noted that the response is a reflection of the growing demand for voter engagement in the country.

The active involvement of citizens in this process is crucial for a successful electoral cycle.

We are encouraged by this record turnout but urge the remaining registrants to collect their PVCs as soon as possible.

The five-day exercise of the PVC collection, held from October 17 to 21, 2024, took place across all 203 wards in Ondo State simultaneously, as Voters who missed the ward-level collection are enjoined to pick up theirs at the 18 Local Government Area (LGA) offices from Wednesday, October 23, to Tuesday, October 29, 2024, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., including weekends.

This is part of INEC’S commitment to transparency and accountability, reiterating that PVCs must be collected in person, and not by proxy.

The commission, therefore, encouraged citizens to visit its official website and social media channels for full details about PVC collection and locations.
