The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered an investigation into a confrontation between officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osogbo, Osun State.
The incident in a viral video capturing the altercation has sparked public concern, prompting the IGP to label the incident as unprofessional conduct.
In response, IGP Egbetokun directed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 11, Osogbo, to lead a thorough investigation into the cause of the clash.
He emphasized that professionalism and collaboration between security agencies are crucial to maintaining a crime-free society.

IGP Egbetokun reiterated that since assuming office, his vision for the police has been anchored on inter-agency collaboration to improve the nation’s security framework.
He also called for calm while the investigation proceeds and assured the public that transparency will be upheld.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police Olumuyiwa Adejobí in a statement on October 26, 2024, added that the findings of the investigation will be made public to ensure accountability and transparency, reaffirming the IGP’s commitment to discipline within the force and fostering stronger cooperation with other security agencies to safeguard peace across Nigeria.
