Internal Security Overhaul: IG Egbetokun Orders Strategic Postings

Calls for Ethical Policing

To reinforce Nigeria’s internal security and elevate professionalism within the police force, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has announced a major reshuffle of senior officers.

These appointments include AIG Suleiman M. Yusuf to Zone 9 (Umuahia), AIG Ahmed Ammani to Zone 1 (Kano), AIG Zachariah Fera to Zone 4 (Makurdi), and AIG Augustina N. Ogbodo as the new head of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos.

This follows the retirement of several Zonal Command leaders and the promotion of DIG Ari Ali, formerly AIG Zone 1, to Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) of Operations at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

IGP Egbetokun has tasked the newly appointed officers to enforce discipline, supervise diligently, and ensure that the ongoing police reform agenda translates into ethical and effective policing.

The foundation of successful internal security lies in diligence, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to professionalism. The IGP remarked.

The IGP also stressed the need to curb misconduct within the ranks, highlighting the direct link between police behaviour and public trust.

Every officer must exemplify our core values of integrity and service excellence. The safety and confidence of the Nigerian people depend on it He added.

This overhaul reaffirms the IGP’s dedication to transforming the Nigeria Police Force, aligning it with global best practices to ensure a safer and more secure nation.
