Breaking News: Nigeria Remits 84 Billion Naira As ECOWAS Community Levy

Commits 100% In 19 Years   

Nigeria has once again affirmed its leadership in West Africa by remitting an impressive 84 billion naira amounting to ($54 million) to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission. 

 

Breaking the news to the media at the breakout session of the Council of Ministers 93rd ministerial meeting on Friday, December 13, 2024, in Abuja, the President of the ECOWAS Commission said the gesture maintains a 100% commitment by the Nigerian government over the last 19 years.

 

He stresses Nigeria’s dedication to fostering regional integration, economic progress, and peace across the bloc.

This remittance is a testament to Nigeria’s dedication to the ideals of ECOWAS  Dr. Touray sAid

It will enable us to address regional challenges, from economic instability and security threats to humanitarian crises.

The funds seek to address critical ECOWAS programs, including conflict resolution, infrastructure development, and aid for member states in crisis. 

 

Recognizing the political and global unrest as well as economic pressures mounting in the region.
