IGP Vows Stronger Security After Major Police Operations

In a decisive operation to disrupt criminal activities, the Nigeria Police Force has dismantled an illegal weapons manufacturing factory in Kwande LGA, Benue State, arresting two suspects, Friday Aduduakambe and Iorwashima Iornyume, also known as “AK.”

The raid uncovered nine locally fabricated pistols, an unfinished AK-47 rifle, and a trove of weapons-making tools.

Inspector-General of Police Dr Kayode Egbetokun announced the success on January 17, 2025, emphasizing the Force’s commitment to eradicating crime.

These operations are a testament to our determination to safeguard lives and dismantle criminal syndicates. he stated.

The Police Chief, represented by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, force public relations officer, said operatives have also scored a major victory in Delta State, raiding a cultist hideout and arresting Prosper Akeni, a notorious hitman for the Eiye Confraternity.

This, according to him, led to the recovery of a cache of firearms, including an English revolver, a Beretta pistol, and 25 rounds of ammunition.

Akeni confessed to being the custodian of the weapons for his group.

Meanwhile, swift police action in Kebbi State led to the arrest of two murder suspects. Yunusa Haruna was apprehended for fatally stabbing his elder brother during a heated argument, while Abubakar Ummar was detained for killing a man in Zuru Village.

Our fight against crime is relentless.  the IGP affirmed

Together, we can restore peace and security across Nigeria.

He urged citizens to collaborate with law enforcement to create a safer nation.
