PUSHES FOR BOLD CLIMATE FINANCING AND GREEN ENERGY PARTNERSHIPS
Nigeria has reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to global sustainability and climate action, declaring its determination to lead Africa’s green energy transition at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week on January 16, 2024, in the United Arab Emirates.
Represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Nigeria revealed its ambition to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060 while driving sustainable development across the continent.

Also, the Minister unveiled Nigeria’s Decade of Gas Initiative, positioning natural gas as a transitional energy source, while scaling investments in solar, wind, and hydroelectric power.
He highlighted that these projects, including afforestation programs, renewable energy infrastructure, and climate-resilient agriculture, aligned with the Paris Agreement and UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Tuggar called for inclusivity in sustainability efforts, urging increased global support in climate financing, technology transfer, and capacity-building to empower African nations in tackling climate challenges.
