CISLAC Demands Transparency Over N252.89 Billion Abuja-Kaduna Highway Contract

Urges President Tinubu To Order Independent Probe, Ensure Accountability

The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) has raised concerns over the N252.89 billion re-awarded contract for the Abuja-Kaduna highway, calling on the federal government to ensure transparency and accountability.

In a statement signed by its Executive Director, Auwal Rafsanjani, CISLAC warned that the lack of clarity surrounding the contract award process threatens public trust and could violate Nigeria’s procurement laws.

The organization urged President Bola Tinubu to commission an independent investigation to uncover any irregularities and prevent the mismanagement of public funds.

The opaque handling of this contract raises serious questions about due diligence and accountability. Rafsanjani stated, emphasizing the need for a thorough review.

According to CISLAC, the contract was initially awarded to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc but was later revoked due to cost-related disputes.

And subsequently re-awarded to a company with conflicting identity details, listed as either “Infoquest” or “Infiouest.”

The organization criticized the government’s failure to provide clarity on the selection process, warning that bypassing proper scrutiny could undermine national development efforts.

Citing the Public Procurement Act of 2007, CISLAC questioned whether due process was followed in awarding the contract to Infiouest Nigeria Limited and demanded full disclosure of all relevant details.

Nigerians deserve to know how their resources are being spent. Rafsanjani added, calling for accountability at all levels.

CISLAC also urged anti-corruption agencies to step in and investigate the matter, stressing that any mismanagement of the highway project could have severe consequences for economic growth and public safety.

Reaffirming its commitment to procurement reforms and improved oversight, and vowed to continue advocating for transparency in public contracts to prevent future irregularities.
