U.S CDC DONATES PPE, BIOSAFETY CABINETS TO NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT TO SAVE LIVES

NOTES THE PRESSING NEED OUTBREAKS CREATE IN LABORATORY 

The United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in its quest to address the pressing need for additional resources caused by the increased volume of laboratory work, resulting from outbreaks has donated a large sum of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other biosafety cabinets to the government of Nigeria to aide effective Health Care delivery in the country.

Speaking on behalf of the U.S government through the Protection Program Director of the CDC division of Global Health Dr. Farah Husain, during the handing over of the support emergency response equipment at the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, National Reference Laboratory in Abuja, Nigeria, Friday, April 12, 2024, said it’s a long-lasting partnership aims to ensure the quality and high outputs of Nigeria’s labs for optimal service delivery. 

Lamenting on the current outbreaks ravaging the country, she stresses that the enormous contribution of healthcare workers for guaranteeing public safety is crucial both at sub-national and community levels, adding that effective and functional Laboratory scientists will enhance quick detection, confirmation, and treatment.
