IBOM AIRLINES DENIES ANAMBRA DISABILITY COMMISSION’S CHAIR  BOARDING RIGHTS

AS HE LAMENTS ODDITY, URGES AVIATION MINISTER TO INVESTIGATE ACTIVITIES OF IBOM AIR

The Chairman of the Anambra state Disability Rights Commission, Barrister Chukwuka Ezewuzie has lamented over the ill-treatment meted on him by Ibom Airlines over his state of low vision.

The oddity happened at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja while trying to board a flight to Enugu state on the first of May 2021.

Addressing journalists in a press conference on Thursday 2nd May 2024 in Abuja, Chukwuka said the International Air Transport Association, IATA in its 2019 annual general meeting reviewed and updated its policy as part of its commitment to disability inclusion.

And wondered where Ibom Air gets its regulations that warranted such denial of rights of PWDs in its operations.

According to him, the maltreatment at the airport, which left him abandoned, with no provision nor refund of his money for air ticket for over two hours was disheartening, stressing that despite his vast knowledge and constant patronage at both local and domestic airlines, such unprofessional conduct is a denial of his civic rights as several plea fell on deaf ears
